Please note that the task consists of three parts. This will be communicated in detail soon:

1) importance/use of the chosen form of energy in the past (e.g. nuclear energy 100 years ago), => historical dimension.
2) Form of energy (e.g. nuclear energy) today (present).
3) Your chosen form of energy in the future (vision, possibilities, imagination) e.g. 100 years from now.

FYI: Energy can be contained in a system in different ways. These possibilities are called forms of energy. Examples of energy forms are kinetic energy, chemical energy, electrical energy, radiant energy, or potential energy. Different forms of energy can be converted into each other, but the sum of the amounts of energy over the different forms of energy before and after the energy conversion is always the same.

Energy forms of the past, present and future

 Showcases of Energy forms

George Orwell wrote his novel in 1948, imagining the world as it may be in 1984. It is a world governed by a one-party dictatorship that controls every aspect of people's lives. Individual memory and critical thinking are eradicated, people are under surveillance 24/7 in order to streamline their behavior.

What aspects described in 1984 do you recognize in our world today?
How might these aspects present themselves in 2084?

Choose one aspect and trace its development from 1984 to today and into the future (the year 2084).

Requirements

1984: There must be a clear reference to the novel 1984 (quotes of passages in 1984 that relate directly to your topic, including page and line numbers).
Today: There must be a research part (e.g. table with links and short description/relation to 1984) of today's situation regarding your topic (present)
2084: Your story as a podcast ready for publishing on the project website dontwastemy.energy in the context of the Showcase "Future Scenarios for 2084" (see below "parts of your projects").

Products

Concept, due 12 May 2021, a minimum of 250 words, uploaded to each student's personal T+U OneNote class notebook --> Please create a page called "Concept" in the IDAF EN T+U section individual assessment
Teaser: team assessment
Self-made visualisation (image, photo, collage, etc.): team assessment
Podcast/video: individual assessment
Summary as a pdf (1200 words, which is about 2 pages, excluding images; Arial, 12 pt, margin: 2 cm): team assessment.

Deadlines

12.5.21 Concept -- this is an outline of your project as you are planning to do it. The concept includes an explanation of your topic, its reference to 1984 and to today, and your future scenario for 2084.
19.5. and 26.5. (progress check by teachers)
31.5. (final product, ready for publishing, i.e. all parts must be uploaded in one post on The Horse; categories: Your class, IDAF scenarios 2084, images and PDF uploaded to the IDAF-Scenarios folder on The Horse.)
