Environment & Technology

Produce electricity

Producing your own electricity is the best way when mine is trying to survive in an enclosed space. One lowers the depression through the sport and thus produces Storm to have enough light and heating.

Equipment:

light column, about 1.80 m high with 16 levels for about 20 to 800 watts of mechanical power.

Possible displays:

Speed (km/h), cadence (rpm), distance covered (km), current mechanical power (watts), current electrical power (watts), accumulated power/work (Wh or kWh), donation total (€), voltage (volts), current (amps), ranking list with name display (separated by persons/teams), bar charts, picture/graphic overlays, various multipliers (e.g. calories, ml fuel oil, grams biomass, electricity price, light bulb duration ...), logo

Befter Step 4: Shape & Create

Today I started to edit my survey results and put it in my word document. I will write to every survey question I decide to include in my text a short comment. I am not finished yet but I am working on it.

I am in general shaping my whole text and I hope it will be interestig in the end. I am also deciding if I am going to leave some parts out of the final text because some parts could be too much and if the text was too long, it would not be readable.

Glacier melt - Collaboration update

Short interview with us (Team Zurich TZ21)

Team Basque asked us some questions. We replied:

- Why are glaciers important?

Because we can use the water to produce electricity, use it like water-tank and also produce water to drink.

- How many glaciers are there on your site?

22

- Why is glacial ice blue?

Because part of white light is absorbed by ice and the blue (short wavelengths) light is transmitted and scattered.

Glacier melt - Goals update

>27 May 2021

What we reached:

- In the last week we had some exchanges via e-mail with the glaciologe Prof. Dr. Daniel Farinotti, because he plans a visit with a team of totally nine persons to the glacier called "Aletschgletscher"

27 May 2021

Our next steps:

- Improve our survey

- Tomorrow Genti, I and Frau Suter will visit the "Aletschgletscher". To arrive to the glacier, we will have to take the train. Our trip will start in Winterthur at 04:42 hour. We will arrive to Grindelwald at 08:08 hour. We will there meet the rest of the team. Then, we will take the gondola to arrive to the "Jungfraujoch". While Genti already has a General Abonnement, Tiziano will have to buy one to arrive to Grindelwald. The ticket costs totaly CHF 159.40.-
