Fashion will always remain a part of our lives. It is here to stay. It is an industry that will adapt and reshape with our lives, our society, our beliefs, and remain constant with our existence. Science and technology will make us more creative, functional, and allow us to express ourselves through our clothing in unique ways that are not possible or even necessary today. For example, virtual reality will play an increasingly important role in our lives.
So how will the clothing industry evolve in the future?
With our work we want to give you a picture of the clothing regulations and possibilities of the years 1984 (According to the Novel by George Orwell), 2021 and 2084.

Have you ever wondered how surveillance cameras will be used in 2084?
George Orwell asked himself the same question in 1948 and wrote a book about 1984 with his imagination, how life will be in the future.
George Orwell thought that cameras and generally monitoring will be a big part of our life’s.
We are going to compare George Orwell’s book “1984” to todays life and do the same as George Orwell. We will write down our imaginations of how life will be in 2084.
We want to research similarities and differences between security cameras and telescreens. To be even more specific, we want to focus exclusively on hidden security cameras of their existence we are unaware of.

In 1984 there are strict rules and standards to stick by. Nowadays people are allowed to have their own mindset and voice concerning who they want to be and how the want to be treated. At least in switzerland.
How will this issue evolve in the further future? Are people allowed to call themselves just anything they want? What could be the consequences of such a society?

We wrote our last IDAF concerning today's gender community. We compared life for transgender people in 1984, today and 2084. Our theories as well as our podcast are attached below.
Please understand that these are only speculations based on our own experiences and knowledge of this topic. We tried to write as neutral as possible. Thank you for understanding.
This is our last post on The Horse and we want to wish you good luck finishing your BMS and apprenticeships.
Best of luck and goodbye

In George Orwell's bestselling novel of a futuristic society, 1984, a speakwirte was an instrument which could transfer spoken language directly into text. A speakwrite from 1984 can be compared to modern day speech recognition software. In 1997, 49 years after the novel was published, the first commercial speech recognition programs appeared on the market. Sadly, they were not as efficient and easy to use as would like. Now almost 25 years after the first programs for dictating texts came onto the market and flopped, are those programs now delivering enough quality and convenience to be using them in everyday life. But what about in 63 years? In the year 2084, which is 63 years from now, it would mark a 100-year difference to the novel’s version of 1984. Would our dictation machines finally work so flawlessly as the did in George Orwell’s version of 1984? Or would they even excel our expectations. As George Orwell would call it, would a “thinkwrite” machine be possible? A machine that would just transfer your thoughts into text…no need for voice recognition software.

Deceitful, manipulative, persuasive or informative? However you perceive it, visual propaganda has been used to change the way the world thinks and behaves for thousands of years.

These days, thanks to a history of being used to drive harmful or discriminatory messages, propaganda generally carries a negative connotation. In this work we will compare the kind of propaganda in the book 1984 by George Orwell with today's situation and how it could look like in the year 2084 with the topic propaganda.
It is important to always question the information you receive. You should always form your own opinion and we show you why.

"Nothing was your own except the few cubic centimetres inside your skull."
What do you think, this popular phrase from the book 1984 by George Orwell has to do with an actual voting which could reappear soon? In accordance with an event, which is probably coming towards us and whose name is “the Swiss E-ID law”, our future regarding web browsing could look grim. It is big brother or to be exact “the swiss government” who might get access to our search history on Google search, etc. when this law should come to life. In a nutshell, the goal is to create an electronic ID for web purposes with individual login for every web user. They declare it as optional, but what if this becomes mandatory in future? Will our privacy be in danger?
Fasten your seatbelts for this interesting work we did to present you a possible scenario of 2084 which could take place as demonstrated in the PDF document. Do also not miss out to listen to our podcast!

Hi everyone,

Now computers are also learning to show emotions. Already, some people prefer to pour their hearts out to a machine. Isn't it amazing how empathetic technology is changing our lives?
We read George Orwell's dystopian novel "1984" at school. Nineteen Eighty-Four depicts as a dystopia the gloomy vision of a totalitarian surveillance state. We have devoted our work to the topic of "Facecrime". In our work we have drawn comparisons about facecrime and emotion recognition between the past, the present and the future. Interesting information was found that surprised us and made us think. Read our PDF document and see what artificial intelligence is capable of.
Have fun and feel free to leave us feedback!

Fashion has evolved a lot since 1984. In the book “Nineteen Eighty-Four” from George Orwell, all the men and women wore the same blue overall. Today, fashion is very versatile, and the choice is great. Likewise, we can wear what we want. But how is it in about 63 years (in the year 2084)?
In this project we will describe how the fashion of 1984 is described in the book “Nineteen Eighty-Four” from George Orwell, how fashion has evolved today and how it will develop by 2084.
