Eating local - Post for Social Media

(picture taken by us)

In "Technology & Environment" Jennifer Bilang and Carmen Rakeseder dealt with the topic "Local Food". On "The Horse" they have published a post about which vegetables and fruits you should plant when, and where you can plant it even if you life in a small flat in Zurich. They have also created a list with all the local food markets in zurich so you can buy the food that you can't plant by yourself.

Social Media post - urban gardening

Urban gardening

Do you know urban gardening or do you already do it? In our project, we want to explain to people what this is and how you can do it yourself. Urban gardening has become more and more important in the last years and brings life into the home. All that is needed is time, interest, and the right equipment.
It is for everyone and is a healthy investment and can be practiced even when space is limited.

We spoke to an apprentice of an Urban gardening shop to find out more. This was a very exciting interview. We also want to do a survey and will make a small handout which you can download later. Thank you very much for filling out our survey and you will find our whole project at the end on Don't waste my energy.

Cycling for a better environment

Cycling is something that most people are able to do. Most people are able to ride a bike from a very young age and most of us aren’t too bad at it. So why not do it more often? It’s not just good for your health, but also for our environment. That is why we want to start this project and encourage people to use there bikes more often. We want to start with building new paths, new options for your bike tours and more options for your safety on the streets. Start now and help us to turn our idea into a project.

Tips for promotion on Instagram by a last year's student

How to promote the projects on the official project account dontwaste_myenergy ☺️

(extract from The Horse 19/20, by Lars, former student of Team Wetzikon Zurich)

  1. Make one good post per week about your topic. Attention it is not about the quantity of mail but the quality is important. I recommend one to a maximum of three posts per week. I have made good progress with this amount of mail.
  2. Follow other people or organizations with the same or similar topics.
  3. Like and comments other mail. This is the only way to show that you are active and interested. But when commenting it is important that you do not just send an emoji. Try to give a constructive feedback with your own opinion and experience.
  4. Things also moved quickly when I wrote to complete strangers to help me promote my account. I noticed that it is not worthwhile to write to organizations with more than 1000 followers. With these organizations you usually don't get an answer. Try to write to people with the same or similar number of followers.
  5. Do in return on point 5 on promotion on your account. Mark people in your mail, make meaningful stories about other people's accounts etc.
  6. As the most important and last tip I give you on the way: be creative and have fun with what you do!

I hope that with these tips you will quickly reach a large crowd of people worldwide.

Our Project: Social media

Land plants only produce 1/3 of the oxygen we breathe, the rest comes from the ocean. The dying of the coral reefs affects all species from marine life to humankind. We would like to get to know more about how corals affect us in our daily life. Isn't it worth it to safe the coral reefs for our own safety?

This is what Esosa and I would like to discuss in our project: Oxygen generated by the ocean.

Social Media Post

The aim of our project is to find out whether in a city like Zürich it would be possible to use electric cars only.
In the course of a self-experiment we hope to find out how electric-car-friendly the city of Zurich is today. With an interview we also want to learn more about the plans that the Zürich city council has regarding the electrification of its urban car traffic.

Step 7: Communication of experience

How will the trees of the big concrete jungles be threatened in the future?
The health of our trees reflects the health of mankind. The threats are growing, so WE must act NOW!

In the city of Zurich there are several tree diseases with different causes, effects and appearance. Not every tree is healthy just because it looks normal on the outside. It is not easy to find out which trees are sick and which are not, but it is very important that sick trees are felled. After all, as everyone knows, diseases spread very quickly and can cause great damage to the trees, as well as harm people.
Foreign plants that are invasive, which means that they spread too quickly and too much, are also a great risk for the city of Zurich and for Switzerland itself. These plants are harmful to the environment because they do not belong there and if they spread so fast, they destroy plants that belong to the Swiss environment.

There is a lot to read about this topic, so stay tuned!
