Resource Mining

General

Resource Mining happened all around the globe and almost every time is a big concern involved, which helps the rich people to stay rich and exploit the poor people that they stay poor.

Resource Mining is more the procedure of how to get the resource out for the earth. Every resource has an individual way to mine them.

For Example:

Coal

Get mined with a bucket-wheel excavator (Schaufelradbagger) which has a weight of about 14'000 tons and can move about 240'000 tons/day of dirt or coal. The most coal-mines are in Germany.

Gold

Surface mining
Underground-mining

Impacts

- Loss of biodiversity
- Negative impact on our ecosystem
- Increase global warming
- Mostly not sustainable

The Example «Congo»

Congo is one of the most resourceful countries in the world. There exist a lot of cobalt and coltan. But Congo has a corrupt government and this leads to illegally mining. The foreigners there also exploit the population of the poor country and this leads as well to some civil wars.

Question
