Lebensraum Boden (Video, 3sat.de)

A few centimeters beneath our feet lies a hidden universe: the soil. We need this fragile world to survive. Yet we are in the process of destroying it permanently.
It is a thin layer that surrounds our planet, but more living creatures exist in it than there are people. The deepest part of this layer took a million years to form. The upper one, which feeds us and regulates the climate, centuries.
The soil: A diverse habitat
Healthy fertile soil is the most densely populated and diverse habitat on Earth. Only the interaction of billions of microorganisms and small organisms creates this thin layer, which is essential for survival. As part of the water and nutrient balance, it stores rainwater and nutrients, protects groundwater from pollution, reduces greenhouse gases and regulates moisture.
In Wädenswil there is the Rietliau sewage treatment plant, which purifies the water for the municipality of Wädenswil. It was put into operation in 1947 and has since been renovated again in 2005. The treatment plant is one of the medium-sized ones in the canton of Zurich, with a population equivalent of 44,000. The purified water flows back into Lake Zurich. There is a small recycling station for glass, plastic, etc. right in front of the treatment plant.

What we have accomplished so far (until 8th April 2021)
- We have created a video pitch (Post: Video Pitch)
- We got in contact with our collaboration teams from the Basque Country and presented our project idea to them and what information need from them. They responded and told us they will look for the information we need as soon as they are back in school (they have holidays until 12th of april)
- We prepared the questions for the interview we would like to do with a swiss clothing store and posted it on the horse
- We started to think about some questions to put in our survey
What is our next step until 15th April 2021
- Get in contact with a swiss clothing store and ask for an interview
- Do a brainstorm of searching questions for our survey
These are the questions we are going to ask the workers of a clothing store here in Switzerland.
- Where do the the clothes you sell come from? (it would be interesting to know where they got their clothes from)
- Where are they produced?
- Do you know how the clothes are produced? Is child labor included? (it's interesting to know if child labor is still used)
- What is your opinion about child labor? (every person has an other opinion, we are interested to see the differences)
- Do you know which means of transport are used to ship the clothes to Switzerland? (think about the environment, is it sustainable)
- Is is important for you to sell sustainable clothes or do you prefer as cheap as possible? (individual opinions of clothing stores in Switzerland)
- What are the advantages and disadvantages of cheap clothes in your opinion? (individual opinions of clothing stores in Switzerland)
- What are the advantages and disadvantages of sustainable clothes in your opinion? (individual opinions of clothing stores in Switzerland)
- What do you think about green lifestyle? (to see if they are thinking about a green lifestyle)
Livia and Sandrine
First we start to think about the whole project and how we will get the information we need. We will do the research after we collaborated with our collaboration teams. We think it would be much easier to see how much information we will get from our collaboration teams so we know which information we have to search by ourself in the internet and outside in maybe an interview or something and add to our project.
Some links we found where we think would be helpful:
We didn't find many links we could use because there aren't many websites which are helpful for the main content of our topic.
[in progress]
So, I want to find a good place to survive underground the earth. It is a big place near the sea. The place is warm and peaceful. Everything that humans need is there. I can go to the nature and smell the flowers. The imaginary sky is wonderful, and I can change it in any way I want. I walk through the floor with an open heart and a positive mindset. The world is in a difficult progress and I`m staying underground until it`s over. Together with other humans, we are making out the best of our situation. Even if we know it`s not the same to be in a closed room as going outside for a walk, but the way I created our underground world makes us feel alive.
Welcome to the Jozef`s Station.
I hope, with our collaboration team from Basque Country, we can find out a lot of information about the production of clothes abroad that we can't find on the internet.
I hope our triangle works well and we can support each other in our projects.
I hope that everything goes according to our plan and that we have enough informations to write an interesting and informatif project.
It would be great if clothing stores in Switzerland would agree to an interview with us to find out from where most of the clothes are imported.
It would be nice if people are more aware of the topic and maybe think about what more sustainable solutions there are.
My goal is that through our project more people become aware of the problem and pay more attention to the origin when buying clothes.
Today
Today we worked on befter step 1 (Imagination) and thought about what we hope the result of our project will be.
We also did some more research for our project in general but also to prepare ourselfs for the interview with my half-sister.
Additionally we further prepared our survey, which we will publish in two weeks time.
Next week (15.04.2021)
Next week, we will do the interview with my sister. We will record the audio, so that we can put it in writing another time.
Anabel & Karla
I still have my plan, but just theoretically, because all starts with the delivering of the Bee's next week. I'm looking forward to it and wanna take off like a rocket on the way to the moon. I'm not very good in imaging, how something should work, until i could start something practically.
My delivering partner:
Bring die Natur zum Summen. Mit deinen Wildbienen und Pflanzen (wildbieneundpartner.ch)
My cooperation partners:
- Students from basque country
- Anabel Burkhalter (classmate)
- Mister Bieri (beekeeper)
I imagine it would be a document about how to use plants instead of medication. It will have basic information on the plants and different uses. I think it will have a section on the differences in Switzerland and India and the cultural difference to use herbal medicine. Our goal is to gather as much interesting information as we can.
I hope that everything goes according to plan and I hope that we get more than enough information, so our project is well written.
I hope that enough people answer our surveys and I hope the teamwork goes well with Kerala.

With our project i want to achieve a good oversight of the future of cars. Will it be e-cars, hydrogen cars or maybe even “the fuel car 2.0”? That’s a really great and interesting project for me, because cars are on of my biggest hobbies for quite a long time now. We’ve planed doing a world-wide survey so we can compare the opinions of other peoples in different countries. That will be quite challenging but I would love to see the opinion from different peoples. I also want to motivate the peoples I know in the car community to participate to see their view. These includes groups from Switzerland and Germany.
With the electric car test-drive I want to feel he car, see if it would be an alternative for me and if I would consider buying a electric car as my next car. I currently have quite two concrete plans to buy my second car, but maybe I after this project I will consider a e-car.
I want to build our website as modern as possible, so people go on it and read about our project. It should give people a help in choosing a new car and maybe consider hydrogen and electrical cars. That would be a great achievement.
