Heating Source

Because we own an old house we heat it with wood. We have a wood-fired heating system.

Picture 1: Oven

The wood we need is from our own forest. My father fells [1] the trees and cut them into pieces of firewood which fit in our oven.
There are two different types of wood which we use. Pine wood [2] is better for starting the fire because it is light, burns better and faster.
Hardwood from beech trees [3] or ash trees [4] is heavy and more compact [5]. But it burns longer which produces more energy.

When the boiler [6] inside the heating systeam reachs 50°C the system starts to fill up the thermal store [7]. When it reachs 80°C we stopp putting wood in the oven because when it is to hot in this system the oven could get damaged.
The heat which is stored in the thermal store last for one day. When its windy outside or really cold it needs a lot of wood.
