Goals and achievements of today

Goals

Today we have an interview with Mister Nagel. We hope that he can answer all our questions, so we can use them for our project.
An other goal is that we find other informations, which we can use, from researches on the internet.
At the end of the lesson we are going to summarize what we did and achieved.

Achievements

Our interview was very successful. Mr. Nagel answered our questions detailed, so we can use every single question and answer.
We also did some researches.

In conclusion we achieved our goals for today!

Sep 2: Research

A couple of interesting links on combating CO2 in cities. These I found. They are very interesting to read and contain a lot of important information.

 Text about a diesel ban

Also very interesting is the report from the city of Zurich "Stadtverkehr 2025" (City traffic 2025) where you can find important statistics and starting points all around the topic of traffic in the city of Zurich.

Diwali-“victory of light over darkness, good over evil, and knowledge over ignorance",but is it really required to burn nature

Deepavali or Divali is a festival of lights and one of the major festivals celebrated by HindusJains and Sikhs.[7] The festival usually lasts five days and is celebrated during the Hindu lunisolar month Kartika (between mid-October and mid-November). One of the most popular festivals of Hinduism, Diwali symbolizes the spiritual "victory of light over darkness, good over evil, and knowledge over ignorance” .Diwali is also a major cultural event for the Hindu and Jain diaspora from the Indian subcontinent.

It’s a time when we wear our finest clothes, illuminate the interior and exterior of our homes with diyas and rangoli, perform worship ceremonies of Lakshmi, the goddess of prosperity and wealth,[note 1] light fireworks, and partake in family feasts, distribute mithai (sweets) and gifts .

The main feature of Diwali festival is burning firecrackers. People spent a lot of money for this .

According to researchers, the mean PM10 (tiny particulate matter suspended in air measuring 10 micrometres or less in diameter)concentration during Diwali was 81% higher than at other times, and the concentration of metals and ions increased significantly. With an increase of 65%, the noise levels too were equally excessive. The increased level of particulate matter corresponded with a 67% increase in the number of patients attending the hospital during the Diwali period . At this time of year, the weather, celebratory practices and regional agriculture combine to create conditions in which air pollution around Delhi reaches 300 times the World Health Organisation standard for healthy air.

I’m not against festivals and as a proud citizen of cultural and linguistic diversities I enjoy each and every aspect of my diverse culture .The motive behind all festivals is bringing people together ,for them to stay connected and relish good memories and stay  happy. But that doesn’t mean destroying or harming nature or just burning out people’s hard earned money .Happiness can be felt ,unity can be experienced ,we can celebrate the victory of good over evil even without polluting nature. What do you think? And do you think unwanted  norms and practices in your countries increase pollution?

These are a few links to know more about diwali.

Circular Economy

Our project is slowly taking shape.

we are currently working through the introduction programme on EDX, a platform where lots of universities show their studies.

Further steps are to finish the introduction programme whilst making notes and creating a factsheet about the most important informations. After the introduction programme there is a a bit more enhanced [programme which we will have to work through as well. But for now all we do is make progress work step by step.

So far we have learned about Circular Economy and its four principles, as well as examples for each principle.

  • Waste = food
  • Build resilience through diversity
  • Work with energy from renewable sources (such as the sun)
  • We need to think in systems! (only if we think in systems we can enhance society, environment and economy)

Examples of the four principlesMore...

To do today

Today I want to contact the Department of the Environment in Zurich.

I also want to find out more about the possibilities to minimise traffic.

What are the advantages and disadvantages of the different solutions.

Mail to the Department of the Environment and continued working on the overview.

What are our goals for today? - 18.11.2020

Last week we asked a team from India if they were interested in collaboration, as our projects deal with similar topics. Today we will see if we have already received an answer from them and if not, we might try again.

We will also continue with research today and gather more information about our topic.

Also, we will try to find an interview partner.

Our goal today for our project (18.11.2020)

Our goal is to find some sustainable companies in switzerland. We now want to make a list with all swiss sustainable companies. Afterwards we wanna take from all sectors (medicine, finance, production etc.) the best companies and make a investment suggestion. The diversity is important because if some sectors have a down, that the investor doesnt make too much loss in his pocket. With good diversity you have the balance of profit and loss.
