Environment & Technology

What we achieved today and forecast for next week (15.04.2021)

Today

Karla and I went to Wald to visit my half-sister to do the interview with her. It went really well and was very interesting. Both Karla and I learned many new things about our topic.

Next week

Next week, Karla and I will put the interview we in writing. Also we will finish up our survey with the new information we have from the interview and publish the survey.

Future Progress

Jarno and I were really active. We’ve done some major design updates on our website, so people will be enjoying our information’s in the future. Furthermore, we already asked some peoples from the car scene in Switzerland about their first opinion. Many told us, that they actually won’t buy an electric car in the future, because the emotion is missing for them. This answer actually didn’t surprise us.

Furthermore, we have wrote down some questions for our international survey. Here you already can have a look at a few of them:

  • Will you consider an e-car in the future and why (not)?
  • What is the most important thing for you while buying a car?
  • What is the biggest downside an e-car brings for you?

That are three of our main questions. We actually want to do like 15 questions in this survey. We also planned a survey in Switzerland, so we could compare the result from international answers and answers in Switzerland. We also made a first direct comparison from e-cars with their advantages and disadvantages. Here you can have a look at our foil: Advantages.pdf (521,77 kb)

Our progress

Today we contacted some clothing stores in Switzerland and asked if they could answer some questions about our project. We contacted the following stores:

  • Tally Weijl
  • H&M
  • New Yorker
  • C&A
  • Zebra
  • Chicorée
  • Brandy Melville
  • Dosenbach
  • Walder Schuhe

Now we are waiting for their response.

Our progress

Last week, we contacted Dejan Radmanovic. We talked with him about our project and asked him again, if we could ask him some questions. He agreed but told us that his answer could be delayed a bit, because he’s busy right now.

Meanwhile, we also got our reply from the bask-country. They told us, that they’ve had school holidays. They would answer our questions. Currently Jarno and I are thinking about something else we could do with the two students from the busk-country, so we actually make something else and don’t just ask questions. This part is pretty hard for us, but we’re sure that we will get an great idea!

We worked at our website and are pretty sure, that the website will be good. There are many points of view issues to consider for our text on the sides, which we will be working on in the next weeks.

Concept and time plan: Update

What we have accomplished so far (until 8th April 2021)

  • We have created a video pitch (Post: Video Pitch)
  • We got in contact with our collaboration teams from the Basque Country and presented our project idea to them and what information need from them. They responded and told us they will look for the information we need as soon as they are back in school (they have holidays until 12th of april)
  • We prepared the questions for the interview we would like to do with a swiss clothing store and posted it on the horse
  • We started to think about some questions to put in our survey

What is our next step until 15th April 2021

  • Get in contact with a swiss clothing store and ask for an interview
  • Do a brainstorm of searching questions for our survey

Interview questions

These are the questions we are going to ask the workers of a clothing store here in Switzerland.

  1. Where do the the clothes you sell come from? (it would be interesting to know where they got their clothes from)
  2. Where are they produced?
  3. Do you know how the clothes are produced? Is child labor included? (it's interesting to know if child labor is still used)
  4. What is your opinion about child labor? (every person has an other opinion, we are interested to see the differences)
  5. Do you know which means of transport are used to ship the clothes to Switzerland? (think about the environment, is it sustainable)
  6. Is is important for you to sell sustainable clothes or do you prefer as cheap as possible? (individual opinions of clothing stores in Switzerland)
  7. What are the advantages and disadvantages of cheap clothes in your opinion? (individual opinions of clothing stores in Switzerland)
  8. What are the advantages and disadvantages of sustainable clothes in your opinion? (individual opinions of clothing stores in Switzerland)
  9. What do you think about green lifestyle? (to see if they are thinking about a green lifestyle)

Step 1: Vision of my project

So, I want to find a good place to survive underground the earth. It is a big place near the sea. The place is warm and peaceful. Everything that humans need is there. I can go to the nature and smell the flowers. The imaginary sky is wonderful, and I can change it in any way I want. I walk through the floor with an open heart and a positive mindset. The world is in a difficult progress and I`m staying underground until it`s over. Together with other humans, we are making out the best of our situation. Even if we know it`s not the same to be in a closed room as going outside for a walk, but the way I created our underground world makes us feel alive.

Welcome to the Jozef`s Station.

Step 1 Imagination

I hope, with our collaboration team from Basque Country, we can find out a lot of information about the production of clothes abroad that we can't find on the internet.

I hope our triangle works well and we can support each other in our projects.

I hope that everything goes according to our plan and that we have enough informations to write an interesting and informatif project.

It would be great if clothing stores in Switzerland would agree to an interview with us to find out from where most of the clothes are imported.

It would be nice if people are more aware of the topic and maybe think about what more sustainable solutions there are.

My goal is that through our project more people become aware of the problem and pay more attention to the origin when buying clothes.

What we achieved today and forecast for next week (08.04.2021)

Today

Today we worked on befter step 1 (Imagination) and thought about what we hope the result of our project will be.

We also did some more research for our project in general but also to prepare ourselfs for the interview with my half-sister.

Additionally we further prepared our survey, which we will publish in two weeks time.

Next week (15.04.2021)

Next week, we will do the interview with my sister. We will record the audio, so that we can put it in writing another time.
